When a large real estate developer was moving into their new headquarters in trendy Fulton Market, Interior Architects chose Allsteel sit-stand desks from Henricksen Furniture as workspaces for the wide-open office environment.
Jones Ward Design Solutions took what was a series of standard, ready-made, eight-person desk systems and augmented them with laminate end caps framed in anodized aluminum. Decorative custom-fabricated metal with anodized and powder coat finishes would match the aluminum trim on the desks and coordinate well with the office interior.
Henricksen offered insights into the desks’ construction and materials but needed some help with designing and building the end caps, which had to be stable when attached to the desks while not impeding the desks’ sit-stand function. The end caps also had to be attractive, practical and within the client’s budget. To match the anodized aluminum look, we worked with expert metal fabricators to find and recommend a polished metal, finished with a semi-transparent powder coat. The metal end cap frames were then built and installed on time, and within the client’s budget parameters.
To complement the desk systems, Jones Ward Design Solutions created laminate bar-height work stations with the same custom-fabricated metal and anodized aluminum. Featuring eight drawers for storage, garbage and recycling bins, along with undermount grommets for technology, they embody a functional, yet stylish, esthetic.
