Project Description

American Library Association

A treasure trove of rare books calls for nothing less than a jewel box of a bookcase to display them in. Built for the American Library Association, these 35 laminate bookcases serve as a room focal point at their headquarters. Although empty now, they will eventually be filled with the ALA rare book collection. Books this special require additional care; the cases are all protected with tempered glass, UV bonded hinges, and keyed locks. The custom-fabricated powder-coated metal shelves are designed to display the books flat – the better to show off the covers.

Bringing their vision to life took start-to-finish attention to detail. Their collection, space, and atmosphere were all considered to bring a furnishing solution that goes beyond the expected.
